Coworking, Yoga & Raw Vegan Food in Bali

In Ubud, coworking can be combined with yoga, spirituality and raw vegan food. However, it’s not always quiet and contemplative here. Of course you can find retreats to relax, but the streets are hectic. Scooters don’t get far at rush hour either. If you make it to the yoga studio or coworking space, you have to find your inner balance first. Nevertheless, Ubud is unique, inspiring and transforming.

Ubud Penestanan, Bali

In the Penestanan district, you can find the whole range of services in a very small space and without having to navigate through the traffic chaos. You can easily reach everything on foot and don’t need your own scooter.

Outpost Penestanan offers coliving and coworking from around 1000 USD/month. Accommodation with pool and access to the rooftop coworking space are included. This space used to belong to Roam and was recently acquired by Outpost.

«A lot can happen when you set out to find yourself. Sometimes, you can even lose the plot. From visiting ancient healers with cellphone addictions to leaving a shaking ashram intent on extracting my soul, I soon discovered that six months travelling round Bali wasn’t all going to be about finding inner peace and harmony.» Becky Wicks, Balilicious: The Bali Diaries

From Outpost you can visit the raw food restaurant Alchemy, which is next door. Beside a salad bar, you can order fresh juices and raw vegan dishes. With raw food, the «cook it, peal it or leave it» rule is difficult to realize. However, I was there regularly and had no problems with digestion.

If you want to practice yoga, you can reach the quietly located Intuitive Flow studio via a traffic-free footpath. If you continue along this footpath, you come around a few corners to the Bintang supermarket.

more tips for ubud

A cool coworking space is Hubud, which cooperates with Dojo Bali in Canggu. Membership is valid at both locations. Not far away is the Yoga Barn. Also well known is the Ubud Yoga Centre or a bit outside and more quietly located the Yoga House.

Canggu, Bali

In Canggu there is coliving and coworking at Dojo Bali, Outpost and Outsite. If you want to be close to the sea and surf beach, better choose this beachtown and you can dive into the waves after work. Canggu is currently experiencing a boom and is changing rapidly with a lot of construction activity.

Perth, Western Australia

Probably you didn’t think about this great option: Just a stone’s throw away from Bali, you can find the most beautiful beaches in Western Australia. Perth is only a three-hour flight away and is even in the same time zone. For a visa run, flights from Bali to Perth can be found at similar price levels as to Singapore. The winter months are mild, but for sun & fun on the beach, the warmer months are definitely better.

Perth doesn’t have to be expensive. The Tide is a coliving and coworking space just steps from Scarborough Beach. Coliving units are available for less than $1000 USD/month. Parking for a rental car is included. So you can explore the beaches or cruise to Fremantle (Freo).

My tips for Freo: Mother offers raw vegan food and a Zero Waste Store in an old industrial hall. In South Fremantle you can find Roho Buhe Vegan Ice Cream and the hip organic store Manna.

Spirituality, Bali

Bali is the only Hindu island in Indonesia. The Balinese believe in karma and live according to the principle of respect and love for God and Mother Earth.

A highlight was the visit to the ashram of Ida Resi Alit. She celebrated with us a purification ritual with holy water and offered us a magically beautiful meditation. Afterwards I felt lighter and more joyful than before. It was as if a great weight had fallen from me.

A reading in the palm leaf library in Gjanjar district confirmed to me that I was on the right path. This library refers to Rishi Agasthya, who is also said to have created the libraries of South India. Exciting was the visit to the aura reader Agus Sihman with personal reading and a blessing ritual. The sessions were organized by Ritter Reisen. Thomas & Sabine are regularly in Bali with groups.
